How Long Can You Keep ASDA Rewards?

ASDA Pounds in your Rewards Cashpot expire if they are not converted into a voucher within six months of the date they were earned. Once you convert Pounds into a voucher, that voucher gets its own expiry date, which is shown in the ASDA Rewards app or on the Rewards website.

How Long Can You Keep ASDA Rewards?

The key point is that Cashpot expiry and voucher expiry are two separate clocks. Converting ASDA Pounds into a voucher stops those particular Pounds being governed by the six-month Cashpot rule, but the new voucher then has to be spent before its displayed expiry date.

Your Rewards Balance Does Not Expire All at Once

Each amount of ASDA Pounds has an earning date.

This means your Cashpot can contain Pounds with different expiry points. Money earned recently can remain valid after older Pounds have reached the end of their six-month period.

ASDA uses your earliest-earned Pounds first when you convert Cashpot value into a voucher.

A Simple Six-Month Example

Suppose you earn £2 in ASDA Pounds in January and another £3 in March.

The January Pounds reach their six-month limit before the March Pounds. The entire £5 does not receive a new six-month period simply because the later £3 was added.

This rolling approach makes it useful to keep an eye on the age of your Cashpot rather than only its total value.

What Happens When You Create a Voucher?

Once ASDA Pounds are converted into a Rewards voucher, ASDA considers those Pounds used.

They cannot then be converted back into Cashpot value simply because you change your mind.

The voucher appears in your Rewards account with its own value and expiry date.

Voucher Expiry Is Shown on the Voucher Itself

ASDA’s current terms do not require you to calculate the voucher expiry from memory.

The expiry date is displayed on the voucher in the ASDA Rewards app or on rewards.asda.com.

On the final valid day, ASDA states that a Rewards voucher must be used before 11.50pm, subject to the store being open. The transaction has to be completed and paid for by that point.

Do Not Wait Until 11.50pm if Your Store Closes at 10pm

The technical voucher cut-off does not override store opening hours.

If your voucher expires today but your local ASDA closes at 10pm, you cannot arrive at 11pm and rely on the Rewards expiry time.

The transaction must be completed while the store is actually open.

Expired Cashpot Value Is Lost

ASDA’s current terms state that ASDA Pounds left unconverted after six months are lost.

They do not automatically turn into a voucher, move into another balance or receive an extension because you continue using the Rewards account.

This makes converting older Cashpot value before expiry important even if you do not intend to shop immediately.

Expired Vouchers Are Also Lost

A voucher no longer has value once its displayed expiry date and applicable cut-off have passed.

The expired voucher does not normally return to the Cashpot.

Because voucher creation cannot be reversed, converting more Cashpot than you expect to use can create another expiry deadline to manage.

Cashpot and Voucher Expiry Need Different Strategies

If ASDA Pounds are approaching six months old

Consider converting enough eligible Cashpot value into a voucher before those Pounds expire.

If you already have a voucher

Check its displayed expiry date and plan an eligible shop before that date.

If you have several vouchers

Pay attention to which expires first rather than assuming the oldest-looking value is automatically the most urgent in every circumstance.

Online Orders Can Temporarily Lock a Voucher

When a Rewards voucher is applied to an online Grocery Home Shopping order, it can appear as locked in your Rewards account until that order is fulfilled.

If an amendment or cancellation means the voucher cannot be used, ASDA can unlock it for future use, subject to the voucher’s existing expiry conditions.

The expiry clock therefore remains relevant even when an online order changes.

Ending Your ASDA Rewards Membership Can Wipe the Balance

If you choose to end your ASDA Rewards membership, ASDA advises converting and spending your Cashpot and vouchers first.

Once the membership has ended, remaining ASDA Pounds and vouchers in the account are lost.

This is a different type of expiry risk from the ordinary six-month Cashpot rule.

Where to Check What Is About to Expire

Your ASDA Rewards app or Rewards website is the most useful place to manage current Cashpot and voucher information.

The ASDA Rewards spending information explains what you can do with a voucher once you have converted your Pounds.
