You cannot spend the balance in your ASDA Rewards Cashpot directly at online checkout. You first need to convert some or all of your available ASDA Pounds into an ASDA Rewards Voucher. Once your Rewards account and ASDA Groceries account are linked, eligible unused vouchers can then be applied to your online grocery order.
The important distinction is between your Cashpot and a voucher. Your Cashpot is where ASDA Pounds accumulate. A voucher is the spendable form of that value.
Step 1: Make Sure Your Rewards and Grocery Accounts Are Linked
To use ASDA Rewards Vouchers with an online grocery order, you need an active ASDA Rewards account linked to your ASDA Groceries account.
Asda links the accounts using the same email address. If you have registered for ASDA Rewards and sign in to your grocery account with the corresponding details, your available Rewards information can be recognised when you shop online.

Step 2: Convert Cashpot Value Into a Voucher
Open the ASDA Rewards app or sign in through the ASDA Rewards website and go to the spending area.
You can create a voucher using available ASDA Pounds in your Cashpot. Asda offers vouchers in fixed increments, so the amount you can create depends on the options currently shown in your account.
If your Cashpot contains more than the maximum amount allowed for one voucher, you can create more than one voucher.
Your Cashpot Has Not Been Spent Until You Create the Voucher
ASDA Pounds sitting in your Cashpot are not the same as money already deducted from an order.
Asda treats the Pounds as used when you convert them into a voucher. Once that happens, you cannot change the voucher back into ASDA Pounds.
This is worth remembering if you are deciding how much of your Cashpot to turn into vouchers before an online shop.
Step 3: Build Your ASDA Grocery Order
Shop online through ASDA Groceries in the normal way, adding the products you want to your basket and choosing an available delivery or collection option.

Step 4: Your Eligible Rewards Vouchers Are Applied Online
When you complete an eligible online grocery order using the linked account, unused ASDA Rewards Vouchers can be applied to the cost of the shop.
If you have several vouchers, Asda applies them in the order in which they were created, beginning with the oldest voucher.
They can be applied up to the eligible value of the online shop, subject to the voucher rules, exclusions, spending requirements and expiry conditions that apply to your account.
You Do Not Spend the Raw Cashpot at Checkout
This is the part that can cause confusion. If your Rewards account shows £10 in your Cashpot, that does not mean a £10 payment option automatically appears at grocery checkout.
You need to create an appropriate voucher first. The voucher is what becomes available for redemption against an eligible online grocery shop.
What Happens to a Voucher While an Online Order Is Pending?
Once a Rewards Voucher has been applied to an online shop, Asda can show that voucher as locked in your Rewards account while the order is awaiting fulfilment.
This prevents the same voucher being used elsewhere while it is attached to the order.
If the order is cancelled, or an amendment means the voucher can no longer be used under the relevant voucher rules, the voucher can unlock for future use provided it is still within its applicable validity period.
Cashpot Vouchers Do Not Pay for Every Product
ASDA Rewards Vouchers are subject to excluded-product rules.
Common exclusions include petrol, items bought from petrol stations, postage stamps, tobacco and tobacco-related products, gift cards, National Lottery purchases, phone top-ups, certain pharmacy or prescription purchases and third-party concessions or products.
Alcohol can also be excluded from Rewards Voucher spending in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland under Asda’s current Rewards terms.
If your basket contains excluded items, the presence of a large voucher does not necessarily mean the whole basket can be paid for with Rewards value.
Can You Use Your Cashpot on George.com?
Standard ASDA Rewards online redemption is for ASDA Grocery Home Shopping. George.com is excluded from the online Rewards Voucher process described in the ASDA Rewards terms.
This is different from an ASDA Gift Card, which has its own rules and can be used for eligible purchases on George.com.
Do Not Leave ASDA Pounds in the Cashpot Indefinitely
ASDA Pounds in your Cashpot have an expiry rule. Under the current Rewards terms, Pounds that have not been converted into a voucher within the applicable six-month period from earning can be lost.
Creating a voucher then introduces the voucher’s own expiry date. The applicable date is shown with the voucher in your Rewards account.
A Simple Example
Suppose your Cashpot contains £12. Rather than expecting the £12 Cashpot itself to appear as a payment method, you would first create one or more available Rewards Vouchers from that balance.
You could then place an eligible grocery order through the linked ASDA account. The eligible voucher value would be applied according to Asda’s current online voucher rules, while any excluded products or remaining balance would need another payment method.
