To amend a standard ASDA grocery order, sign in to the account used to place the shop, open your current order, choose the available amendment option, update the trolley and complete the checkout or confirmation process again so the revised order is saved.

The amendment must be completed before the cut-off shown for your order if you want to add or remove groceries while keeping the same delivery or collection date.
Before You Start: Check Three Things
- Make sure you are signed into the same ASDA account used for the order.
- Check that the amendment deadline has not passed.
- Confirm that it is a standard order rather than an Express Delivery or Express Collection.
If those conditions are met, the order-management area is the place to begin.
Open Your Existing Grocery Order
Sign in to ASDA Groceries and go to the area where your current orders are displayed.
Select the order you want to change. Check the delivery or collection date carefully if you have more than one active booking.
This prevents you from accidentally editing the wrong shop.
Choose the Amend Order Option
If the order is still eligible for changes, use the available option to amend it.
The existing order can then be reopened so you can change the products in the trolley.
If no amendment option is available, check the deadline and order type before assuming the website is malfunctioning.
Add the Products You Forgot
Once the order is open for amendment, shop in much the same way as you did when building the original trolley.
Search for the missing product, select the quantity and add it to the order.
You can repeat this for other products while the order remains in amendment mode.
You Can Remove Products Too
An amendment does not have to increase the size of the order.
If you no longer need an item, reduce its quantity or remove it from the trolley before reconfirming the order.
Review the New Basket Total
Before finishing the amendment, check the revised cost of the shop.
Adding or removing products changes the basket value and can affect charges linked to the size of a delivery or collection order.
Prices can also be based on those shown when you amend the order, so do not assume the revised trolley will necessarily reproduce every figure from the first checkout.
Complete Checkout Again
One of the most important stages is reconfirming the amended order.
Do not assume that changing the trolley automatically saves the new version. Continue through the required checkout or confirmation steps until Asda confirms the revised order.
The ASDA online shopping guide covers the broader checkout process if you are unfamiliar with ASDA Groceries.
Why Your Bank May Show Another Authorisation
Asda performs a card pre-authorisation when you amend an order.
This checks the payment method against the revised shop. Asda states that this pre-authorisation is not itself a charge that will be billed as the final order payment.
A temporary pending authorisation can therefore appear even though you have not been charged twice for the groceries.
The Normal Deadline Is the Night Before
Asda currently tells customers that standard grocery orders can generally be added to until 11pm on the night before delivery or collection.
The formal rule is to complete the amendment before the cut-off stated in the confirmation for your specific order.
Checking the order itself therefore gives you the safest deadline.
Express Delivery and Collection Cannot Be Amended Normally
Asda’s current terms exclude Express Delivery and Express Collection from the normal process of adding or removing goods while retaining the same date.
If you placed an Express order, opening the account and failing to see the normal amendment workflow may therefore be expected rather than an error.
Be Careful When Changing the Delivery Address or Collection Store
Asda is currently updating parts of its website and app, and it warns that changing addresses or collection locations can be affected during the transition.
Asda currently states that you cannot change the delivery address or collection store after placing an order while these updates are taking place.
That is different from simply adding another product to the existing trolley.
After Amending, Check the Order One More Time
Return to your order details after completing the amendment and make sure the revised products and quantities are displayed as expected.
This is particularly useful after a larger edit involving several additions and removals.
