For a standard ASDA grocery delivery or collection, Asda currently says you can keep adding to your order until 11pm on the night before the delivery or collection date. Your individual order confirmation also shows the applicable cut-off time, and that order-specific deadline is the one to follow.

Once the cut-off has passed, you should not assume that you can keep the same slot and simply reopen the order to add or remove groceries.
The Simple Rule Is 11pm the Night Before
Asda’s current shopping guidance describes 11pm on the night before delivery or collection as the normal amendment deadline.
This can be useful if you remember milk, bread or another item after completing checkout earlier in the week. You do not necessarily need to cancel the order and start again just because something was forgotten.
Your Order Confirmation Is More Important Than a General Rule
Asda’s formal grocery terms say that if you want to add or remove goods while keeping the same delivery or collection date, you must make the change before the cut-off specified for your particular order.
That cut-off is available through your ASDA online account and is also included with the order confirmation sent to you.
If the time shown there differs from a general opening-hours or shopping-help page, follow the deadline attached to your actual booking.
Example: A Wednesday Delivery
If your ordinary grocery delivery is due on Wednesday and your account shows an 11pm Tuesday amendment cut-off, changes should be completed before that Tuesday-night deadline.
Waiting until Wednesday morning would normally be too late to use the standard amend-order process while preserving that same delivery slot.
The Deadline Covers Both Adding and Removing Products
Amending an order is not limited to adding forgotten groceries.
Before the relevant cut-off, a standard order can also be adjusted by removing products you no longer need, subject to the normal website and order conditions.
Express Orders Work Differently
The normal add-or-remove amendment option does not apply to Express Delivery or Express Collection in the same way.
Asda’s current grocery terms specifically state that the option to add or remove goods while retaining the same delivery or collection date is not available for Express Delivery or Express Collection orders.
If you have booked an Express service, do not rely on the general 11pm rule that applies to ordinary grocery orders.
What Happens If You Amend Before the Cut-Off?
When you amend an ASDA order, the prices applicable to the amended order can be based on the prices shown on the site when you make the amendment.
Asda also performs another card pre-authorisation when an order is amended. This is a verification step rather than a final charge to your card.
This can explain why your bank may temporarily show another authorisation associated with an order you have edited.
Can You Change an Order After the Cut-Off?
Asda’s terms distinguish between changing goods before the cut-off while retaining the same slot and making broader changes to an order.
Asda states that you can change an order up to delivery or collection, but doing so may mean it can no longer fulfil the order during the original slot. Another date or time may need to be agreed.
That is different from simply reopening the existing basket late and expecting the original booking to stay unchanged.
Do Not Wait Until 10.59pm If the Change Matters
Even where the displayed deadline is 11pm, it is sensible to finish the amendment earlier.
You still need enough time to open the order, make the changes and successfully confirm the amended shop. A login problem, payment verification issue or website interruption close to the deadline could leave too little time to complete the process.
Changing Your Basket Can Affect the Total
Adding or removing products can change the value of your order and may affect charges linked to basket size.
Asda’s current grocery terms apply a minimum basket charge in certain circumstances when a delivery or collection order falls below the relevant threshold.
Review the new order total before confirming the amendment rather than assuming only the price of the added or removed item has changed.
Rewards and Gift-Card Payments Can Also Be Affected
If your order uses ASDA Rewards value, a gift card or another non-standard payment element, changing the basket can affect the amount ultimately payable.
The ASDA Rewards guide explains the separate Cashpot and voucher system.
Where Can You See the Amendment Deadline?
Check the order details in your ASDA Grocery Home Shopping account and the confirmation information supplied when the order was placed.
This is preferable to relying on a remembered deadline from a previous shop because the cut-off associated with the current order is the relevant one.
The ASDA online shopping guide covers the wider process of managing grocery orders online.
